Call for Submissions: Spring 2027

The art of discovering is to find. Each day we have the opportunity to experience something for the first time or again with new eyes. The theme for Metonym Journal’s 2027 issue is (Re)discovery:

• Childhood joys

• Finding what was lost

• Old hobbies

• Family heritage

• Community

• Travel 

• Finding God

• Relationships, old and new

These are glimpses of what (re)discovery could look like. As we move through life, the things we take with us can be made new simply by giving them a second look. Moving forward often involves reflecting on what we have left behind. We hope that exploring the themes of discovery and rediscovery opens opportunities for artistic creation.

Our Spring 2026 issue is now on sale for $25 (which includes shipping costs). If you would like to purchase a copy, please mail cash or a check to the address below, and we will send you the issue. Please make checks payable to Jessup University and write Metonym Journal in the memo line. We are unfortunately not able to mail internationally.

Metonym is an annual publication of Jessup University's undergraduate English and Digital Humanities programs located north of Sacramento, California. Staffed by students, our literary journal is a yearly, periodic collection of original fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and visual art.
